Mark-Anthony Polizzi

The very interesting sculpture/installation work of Mark-Anthony Polizzi is going nicely with my Sunday evening. His description of his work is far better than you'll get out of me.

Mark-Anthony Polizzi:
My work uses a process of reconstruction and unification to examine the domesticated chaos of the post consumer world. This area where the relatively ordered and relatively disordered coexist and interact might seem like a contradiction, considering the more austere and violent sense of chaos. However it is in this gray area in which I construct my work. These installations draw on the history and narrative properties of found objects, to bring out the human connection often lost in the glimmer and glitz of an ever growing material culture.

Strawberries Need Rain

I happened across the work of Swiss born artist Carol Bove today. Her body of work consists of collage, sculpture, drawing, installations and more that blurs the lines of categorization. Via Dennis Kimmerich Gallery.

Zimoun

Zimoun : Sound Sculptures & Installations | Compilation Video V1.3 from ZIMOUN VIDEO ARCHIVE on Vimeo.

This is a collection of incredible sound sculpture by Swiss sound artist Zimoun. It's quite an amazing collection of sound installations. You know it's good when you think to yourself, "Why didn't I think of this?"

puppe*

Another great artist from Argentina is Valeria Montero or Puppe. She has a large and beautiful collection of work ranging from drawings to arrangements/installations to paintings. Check out her Flickr page here.

Ceremonia/Ceremony

I find much to like in the work of Argentinian artist Hernán Paganini. His website is under construction but you can find images of his work via his Flickr page. Above is Portal Azul, espacio para meditar / Blue Gate, space to meditate.

Yochai Matos

I am really enjoying the work of Israeli artist Yochai Matos. Whether it's a light installation, street art or other mixed media pieces, his work is provocative, intelligent and beautiful.

Niall McClelland

Not sure where to begin with Niall McClelland. His work is prolific, dark, immense and at times, graphically poignant. But don't just take my word for it, see it here.

Francisco Infante-Arana & Nonna Gorunova

The work of Russian Artist/Photographers, Francisco Infante-Arana and Nonna Gorunova is utterly amazing. Most of their work uses mirrors and the environment, and boy do they choose beautiful places, but I was completely captured by these above photos. It looks as though it is Aluminum foil but I can't be too sure.

Dataflux

DATAFLUX 0.1 from Kit Webster on Vimeo.

Installation at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia. "Dataflux 1.0 is a new media gallery installation that investigates the possibilities of using live software codes to render synesthetic audio and visual experiences. The installation uses a counting mechanism to step between scenes and sequences. Projections are beamed onto a motorised mirror allowing for wider displacement, sound and lighting effects are all triggered at specific synchronized moments." - Kit Webster

Kjell Varvin

With such great installations I'll let Mr. Varvin speak about his work himself:

"I start each day’s work without any preconceived idea or plan. In my studio anything can happen. Walls are crumbling and lines are flying off in all directions to join with other lines and patterns. My job is to catch resonant moments that exist for an instant within a vast interplay. I am aware of the speed and impermanence of existence and do not try to postpone the inevitable or prolong any illusion of stability. The resulting works exist briefly more as proposals than definite statements."

See more of his installations, here.

1+1=3

Students at the Beckmans College of Design in Sweden have created this design installation as part of their thesis show. The perspective principle is nothing new, like Felice Varini’s incredible work using the same technique, and dating back to the 60’s. Or like Bernard Voita’s magical photographs that were taken in the 90’s, (which I posted last week) have the same effect.
