This is a great video/animation by Benjamin Ducroz that combines 3D renderings, watercolors, and ink on paper. It is like a moving painting/drawing. The space, movement and composition created by the black frame make it feel as if you are viewing multiple pieces at different depths. It's perfect for a Friday mind-melt. Best if watched at full-screen.

Mark-Anthony Polizzi

The very interesting sculpture/installation work of Mark-Anthony Polizzi is going nicely with my Sunday evening. His description of his work is far better than you'll get out of me.

Mark-Anthony Polizzi:

My work uses a process of reconstruction and unification to examine the domesticated chaos of the post consumer world. This area where the relatively ordered and relatively disordered coexist and interact might seem like a contradiction, considering the more austere and violent sense of chaos. However it is in this gray area in which I construct my work. These installations draw on the history and narrative properties of found objects, to bring out the human connection often lost in the glimmer and glitz of an ever growing material culture.

Valentina de Matha

Italian artist Valentina de Matha creates some outstanding work and has a very unique and informed approach to producing it. Her artistic research regards material taking shape by itself, transformation of things, ever-changing dynamics of metamorphosis, becoming, fullness and emptiness of life, macro and microcosmos. Through her work she creates tensions, dissonances, trying to match interior and exterior, contraction and expansion in between form and formlessness. She works with water in general and organic materials, such as paper, capable of undergoing the changes of time.

Fukt is a magazine for contemporary Drawing based in Berlin. It is published annually and takes submissions. They are on issue No. 7 2009.

If Drawings Were Photographs

It's Nice That has released their first 'zine, If Drawings Were Photographs. It is such a great idea, I can't believe it wasn't done sooner. Explained plainly as: "Rob came up with the idea and then asked me to do the drawings. The book is essentially about trying to recreate my drawings as photographs using anything that Rob could find." Bot'Ox

This is the music video for French musicians Bot'Ox. It was directed by the amazing Swiss graphic designers/artists, Körner Union and produced by Big. It's a surreal look at flat-black Ford Focus station wagon hitting inflatable objects in slow motion. It is simple, beautiful and fun to watch.

Monday morning web-wandering brought this amazing photography blog to my toes. Feaverish Photography is the work of Los Angeles based photographer and web designer Aaron Feaver. His photography blog is a collection of things that inspire him in photography, whether it is fashion, lifestyle, landscape, reportage, etc. He has some amazing work in his portfolio and a great eye for collecting and posting inspirations.
