Moving homes...

If you've been by here in the last few days you'd have probably noticed a lack of posts. This is because The Idea Foundation has been in the process of moving homes. It was beginning to out-grow it's old digs and needed a place to stretch out it's mental legs. Please hang tight as all the appliances get hooked up, all the memories get put on their proper shelves and new art begins to get hung on the fresh walls. Thanks for your patience and please check back for more info.

Think about the box.

outside the box from joseph Pelling on Vimeo.

This is a fun little animation about thinking inside or outside the "box." Created by Joseph Pelling, it's great for anyone who has ever contemplated the "box."

Susan Cianciolo Opening

"Susan Cianciolo’s mark defies definition: on one hand, she is a revered fashion designer who happens to make art and on the other, she is a conceptual iconic artist who occasionally designs clothing. Her work regardless of median provokes debate and pushes boundaries of contemporary art and modern fashion.

Gallery Space 15Twenty is proud to present Mountains and Flowers, which further explores Cianciolo’s Wisdom of FlowersCollection (SS10), debuted this past fall in NYC. This exhibition is all cream and white with hints of color and hand-painted flowers, inspired by the studies of flowers at the turn of the century, and also by the natural way indigenous cultures have incorporated flowers. And exclusively to Gallery Space, Cianciolo will be creating a supporting line for the exhibition featuring all sustainable pieces hand made by her and her students. To compliment the exhibition, Cianciolo will be curating a music series featuring her close-knit community of musicians, artists, family and friends."

Also below is a couple peaks Fashion side of Susan Cianciolo. You may download the .pdf of here. I like how the combination of drawings, paper and photography are collaged together. Each spread blurs the line between product, art and fashion.

Luke Rudolf

Artist Luke Rudolf has been circulating around a lot of sites lately. This series of portraits are a mix of oil and acrylic with a engaging application of layers and mixing of the two mediums.

Press + by Benjamin Ducroz

PRESS + from benjamin ducroz on Vimeo.

This is a great video/animation by Benjamin Ducroz that combines 3D renderings, watercolors, and ink on paper. It is like a moving painting/drawing. The space, movement and composition created by the black frame make it feel as if you are viewing multiple pieces at different depths. It's perfect for a Friday mind-melt. Best if watched at full-screen.

Arcade Expressionism

Above is the work of Brock Davis which are part of his “make something cool every day 2009″ project. I love how simple yet recognizable these pieces are.

Rich Gemmell

I am really enjoying the the illustration stylings and the nature-leaning content of U.K. based illustrator Rich Gemmell. He is a freelance illustrator, so if you need some work done hit him up.

Kevin Christy

Los Angeles based artist Kevin Christy has some great unique work on his site.
